"I want to talk to someone about your cover" is a call we get from time to time. Sometimes it's an inquiry about how to get a copy to frame. Sometimes it's an earful of expletives. And sometimes we have both reactions to the same cover. Here’s a sampling of them — a testament to design directors, artists and photographers, primarily, but also to staffers who've brainstormed to come up with the image of the week, the picture that introduces tens of thousands of mere words in every issue.
