Park it — What better way to celebrate Earth Day than running around a park? Participants in the Sierra Club's Annual Walk or Run can chose between a four-mile jog or two-mile walk around scenic Kent Lake on Saturday, April 22. The $25 registration fee benefits environmental education programs in Oakland County. Registration starts at 9 a.m. at Kensington Metropark, 2240 Buno Rd., Milford; 248-435-5277 or sierraclub.org/community/oakland.

Indian Spring — To learn about an environmental movement that predates our own, check out "Honor Mother Earth in the Native American Tradition." Sponsored by the interfaith environmental group Voices for Earth Justice, the event features discussions on Native American environmental practices and demonstrations of the traditional dancing and drumming of the Ojibwe tribe. Native American author and activist Kay McGowan will lead the discussions. The $25 fee, which benefits the group, also pays for lunch. 12:30 p.m., Sunday, April 23. University of Michigan-Dearborn Environmental Interpretive Center, 4901 Evergreen Rd., Dearborn. Call 586-779-8015 for more information.

Lobby on — It's not often ordinary citizens get the chance to lobby state legislators in the lawmakers' own offices. But that's exactly what they'll do during a reproductive-rights rally in Lansing organized by the Planned Parenthood Affiliates of Michigan. After watching lawmakers from the Capitol gallery, demonstrators will take their messages to the offices of their individual representatives. The gathering commemorates the 2004 March for Women's Lives protest in Washington, D.C. Noon, Tuesday, April 25. Capitol Avenue at Michigan Avenue, Lansing; 517-482-1080 or mimarch4choice.net.
